“I will give you treasures of darkness and hidden riches of the Secret Place, that you may know that I, the Lord, Who calls you by your name, am the God of Israel.” Isaiah 45:3
“’I am your servant Ruth,’ she said. ‘Spread the corner of your garment over me, since you are a kinsman-redeemer.’” Ruth 3:9b
Our Prince Charming is on the scene. Remember from Part 20, Boaz was one of Ruth’s and Naomi’s Kinsman-Redeemers: A relative, who gets or buys back, recovers, ransoms, delivers, fulfilling a promise, making amends or atones for, restoring one to favor.
And our Princess in Waiting has asked him to spread the corner of his garment over her, acknowledging she knows she is only a servant, but also recognizing who he is and what he can do for her. “…over all the glory will be a canopy. It will be a shelter and shade from the heat of the day, and a refuge and hiding place from the storm and rain.” Isaiah 4:5b-6
For the first time, in a very long time, Ruth feels safe, protected and full of hope.
The love song begins. “Take me away with You—let us hurry! Let the King bring me into His chambers.” Song of Songs 1:4
There is protection like no other. “His left arm is under my head, and His right arm embraces me.” Song of Songs 2:6
It is a sweet courtship. “My dove in the clefts of the rock, in the hiding places on the mountainside, show me your face, let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely.” Song of Songs 2:14
There is no fear of loss. “…when I found the One my heart loves, I held Him and would not let Him go…” Song of Songs 3:4b
You are the apple of His eye. “How beautiful you are, My darling! Oh, how beautiful!” Song of Songs 4:4a
Can you hear Him calling?
“Come with Me, My bride, come with Me…You have stolen My heart, My sister, My bride; You have stolen My heart…” Song of Songs 4:8a, 9
Yes, it is a love song like no other has ever been written. His courtship with you is unique because it is a relationship between only you and only Him – no one else. Although He never changes, there has never been another “you”. He is waiting to write the verses, your verses.
Listen…… Can you hear the music? Can you feel the beat? Can you hear Him humming? He’s at the Palace, and He is patiently watching out the window of the Secret Place for your arrival. He wants to bring you into the shelter, out of the heat, away from the storm, and protect you at all cost. He is waiting for the dance to begin.
“Therefore, ‘they are before the throne of God and serve Him day and night in His temple; and He who sits on the throne will spread His tent over them. Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat upon them, nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; He will lead them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.’” Revelation 7:15-17
Oh, what a day that will be! Maestro (Master in an art, especially an eminent composer, conductor, or teacher of music)….., please! |
