Part 7
“I will give you treasures of darkness and hidden riches of the Secret Place, that you may know that I, the Lord, Who calls you by your name, am the God of Israel.” Isaiah 45:3
In Part 4 of In the Secret Place, we learned that God told Moses He knows him by name and Moses has favor with Him: “And the Lord said to Moses, ‘I will do the very thing you have asked, because I am pleased with you and I know you by name.’ Then Moses said, ‘Now show me Your Glory.’” Exodus 33:17-18
In Part 5 of In the Secret Place, we talked about entering into the Most Holy Place, the Holy of Holies. The curtain has been torn in two, and we have free access to enter into the Presence of our Father.
Since we now have an idea of where we are going, we need to know what we are going to experience when we get there: “Show me Your Glory!”
In John 17 Jesus prays for us, the future believers: “My prayer is not for them (His disciples) alone. I pray also for those who will believe in Me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as You are in Me and I am in You. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that You have sent Me. I have given them the Glory that You gave Me…Father, I want those You have given Me to be with Me where I am, and to see My Glory, the Glory You have given Me because You loved Me before the creation of the world.”
Glory – what is it? Glory: It is the visible manifestation of an invisible reality. Glory in the Greek meaning: It is things that are seen, things that are visible. Glory in the Hebrew meaning: It is to give the correct opinion or estimate of.
Manifest: Latin (manifestus) means “caught in the act, flagrant (fiery hot: burning), obvious”; Readily perceived by the senses and especially by sight; easily understood or recognized by the mind; obvious.---Merriam Webster’s Dictionary
The Israelites experienced God’s Glory every moment of their journey: “Then the cloud covered the Tent of Meeting, and the Glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle….So the cloud of the Lord was over the tabernacle by day, and fire was in the cloud by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel during all their travels.” Exodus 34-35, 38 “…the Glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle…”---it settled, it rested, and it dwelt in the people’s presence. “While Aaron was speaking to the whole Israelite community, they looked toward the desert, and there was the Glory of the Lord appearing in the cloud.” Exodus 16:10
The Psalms are full of Scripture declaring His Glory. Isaiah 6:3 says, “…Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of His Glory.”
Did God cease manifestation of Himself, His Glory, past the Old Testament days? No, He did not: In John 17 Jesus says that He has given us the Glory that was given to Him by the Father---He prays that we will just see it, experience it. My Bible Concordance references Glory 27 times in the Old Testament; 52 times in the New Testament---almost twice as many times!
As I told you in Part 6, when my Grannie was walking into eternity, I experienced a beautiful revelation of God’s Glory: His rain. God’s Glory is all around us. We only have to have “eyes to see and ears to hear”.
The whole earth is full of His Glory! Anyone can experience His Glory – it is free! Enter into His Secret Place – He wants us to see His Glory! He wants His Glory to settle, rest and dwell in our presence.
“Lift up your heads, O you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of Glory may come in! Who is this King of Glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of Glory may come in! Who is He, this King of Glory? The Lord Almighty—He is the King of Glory.” Psalm 24:7-10
Father, enter in….
